Butterfly Circus

Ed Vizenor Director of Communication When Ed Vizenor first saw an online video of Nick Vujicic he instantly wanted to meet this heroic man and thought how amazing it would be to someday work on a project with him. Little did he know that Nick happened to live 20 minutes away and that only 3 days later they would meet in person.

The meeting went amazing. Nick said he felt in his heart that he was supposed to work with Ed. So the journey began and a little over a year later Butterfly Circus came into being.

Originally Ed had a vision of making a documentary about Nick's life. Whatever the project was he wanted to be the best production possible and so he began thinking of the talented people he met in Hollywood. Josh Weigel came to mind and so Ed called up Josh and asked him if he ever heard of Nick Vujicic. Josh had not so Ed explained who he was and how he believed millions would be impacted if we work with Nick. Instantly Josh was also filled with a passion to work with Nick.

The funds didn't come as fast as expected for the project and Josh, being the talented director that he is, won a contest which gave him a 30k budget for a short film. Josh wanted to use this money to work on a film with Nick and so he contacted Ed to get a hold of Nick and pitch Butterfly Circus to him. Ed made the pitch, however, this time it was not in person and through his media director. The reply was shocking to us all and surprisingly Nick said no.

Because Ed was involved in the production of Bella and good friends with Eduardo Verastegui, sometime before this Ed mentioned if Josh would be open to having Eduardo in his film. He loved the idea. Ed read the entire script out loud to Eduardo and showed him a video about Nick and mentioned that millions of lives would be touched if he works on this project. Eduardo said yes. So after receiving Nicks answer he was not settling for a no. The next day Ed drove 3 hours in rush hour traffic to see Nick but he was not in the office. He requested that these DVDs be personally delivered to Nick. He left copies of Bella and Stained, which is one of Josh's award winning films, along with a little note to Nick in a nice little package. The package was delivered to Nick's house that night and he watched Stained. Nick called the number on the DVD that was left and later that same night Josh and his wife Rebekah met with Nick in person and Nick said yes.

A year after the film was made, indeed millions of lives have been touched. In the first year alone over 15 millions watched the film and it will forever be a project that will continue to touch hearts and change lives. You can watch the film below and decide for yourself.
